Vietnam is officially known as the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, which is located in the extreme east part on the Indochina Peninsula in Southern Asia. After the battle of Bach Dang River in 938 AD, Vietnam became independent from China. It was again colonized by French in the mid- 19th century and the political resistance against the French resulted in the war eventually dividing the country into two parts. In the year 1955, the American War was fought among the nations of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, which was soon followed by the Indo-China War- fought between North Vietnam and the South Vietnam.
