Japan is a country, which periodically faces earthquakes. However, the earthquake of last March has been far from expected, mostly because of its power, about 9 of the Richter scale (The New York Times, 2011), but also of the level of the tsunami that followed. The above earthquake has caused the death of thousands of people also, significant damages have been caused to the countrys nuclear units and the infrastructure (roads, airports, buildings) in fact, because of the extension of the earthquakes effects, as analyzed below, the countrys economy has been severely affected. The influence of the earthquake and the tsunami in the nuclear strategies of countries worldwide is examined in this paper. Reference is also made to the effects of the event on the global market.
