Despite the fact that cost of living in China differs in different provinces, urban and rural areas however, in general and compared to the United States, the cost of living in China is 60-80 percent lower than that of United States (Numbeo, 2011). Furthermore, considering the depreciated currency and low wages, the cost of living in the country is the one of the lowest for the developed countries in the world (Gudykunst, 2003).
